Supportive Learning Environment

P.B.I.S.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is an approach used to improve school safety and promote positive behavior. With PBIS, kids learn about behavior, just as they learn other subjects like math or science. The key to PBIS is prevention, not punishment. Students earn HAWK feathers for displaying our four tenets: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Have a Positive Work Ethic.  Students can also recieve a 'Golden Hawk Award.'  This award is given out once a week.  Students get to call home and celebrate recieving this award with the Dean of Students or a Principal!  

Restorative Approaches

Restorative practices focus on building, maintaining and, when necessary, repairing relationships among all members of a school community. It is an approach to discipline that focuses on restoration rather than punishment.

Through the use of restorative practices, students are encouraged to be accountable for their actions and find ways to “make things right” with those they have harmed. Restorative approaches empowers students by helping them to learn from their mistakes in a school environment that is caring and responsive.
